DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR A JAPAN TOURIST VISA APPLICATION

1) Short-term tourist visa

Required documents

1. 3.5 x 4.5 cm white-background ID photo

• Prepare 02 original photos
• Photos must not be retouched
• Write full name clearly on the back of each photo
• Attach directly to the visa application form at item 3

2. Original passport

• Valid for at least 06 months
• Include old passports if any
• Passport must be signed

3. Japan visa application form

• Attach a 3.5 x 4.5 cm photo in advance
• The applicant must sign at the end of the form
• The signature must match the signature in the passport
• Do not staple the form

4. Financial proof
You may prepare one or more of the following documents:

• Confirmation of a fixed-term savings account balance together with a photocopy of the account booklet, with a balance of at least 5,000 USD (equivalent to approximately 120,000,000 VND/person)
• Bank statement of the salary account for the most recent 06 months, with an ending balance preferably from 5,000 USD or more
• Income certificate issued by a government agency (if any)

Note:

• If traveling with family members, you may provide joint financial proof using 01 savings account with the amount calculated as: 5,000 USD x number of travelers
• Bank documents must bear the overlapping red seal and the red seal over the branch director’s signature

5. Employment proof

For applicants of working age:

• Labor contract (notarized copy)
• Bilingual employment confirmation letter, which must include: company address, job position, salary, and employment start date
• Screenshot of the VSSID application if you are a company employee

For business owners:

• Business registration certificate (certified true copy)

For freelancers or those not working for a company/business:

• Local authority occupation confirmation letter (original)
• Photos proving actual work activities

For retirees:

• Retirement card (notarized photocopy)
• Pension book (notarized photocopy)
• Retirement decision issued by the authority (notarized photocopy)

For pupils and students:

• Pupil/student card (notarized copy)
• Certificate of student status and leave request letter (original, may be presented in one document)

6. Relationship proof if traveling in a group of 2 or more people

• Marriage certificate (certified true copy)
• Birth certificate (certified true copy)
• Household registration book (certified true copy)
• If traveling with friends: provide 03 group photos via Zalo

7. Other asset documents (if any)

• Land use right certificate / house ownership certificate (notarized copy)
• Vehicle ownership documents in the applicant’s name

8. Information form

• Fill in completely according to the template

9. Two-sided Citizen ID card

• Submit a photocopy
• If the place of birth is not within the document submission area in Da Nang, an additional notarized photocopy is required

2) Long-term tourist visa

Required documents

In general, the long-term tourist visa documents are similar to the short-term visa documents, including the following:

1. 3.5 x 4.5 cm white-background ID photo

• 02 original photos
• No retouching
• Write full name clearly on the back of each photo
• Attach directly to the application form

2. Original passport

• Valid for at least 06 months
• The passport must have previously contained a Japan visa
• Include old passports if any
• Passport must be signed

3. Japan visa application form

• Photo attached in advance
• Sign exactly as in the passport
• Do not staple

4. Financial proof

• Confirmation of fixed-term savings account balance together with a photocopy of the account booklet
• Salary account statement for the most recent 06 months
• Income certificate issued by a government agency (if any)

Note:
The stronger the financial documents, the higher the chance of approval.

5. Employment proof
Applied similarly to the short-term tourist visa category.

6. Relationship proof if traveling with relatives or friends
Applied similarly to the short-term tourist visa category.

7. Other asset documents (if any)

• Land use right certificate / house ownership certificate
• Vehicle ownership documents in the applicant’s name

8. Information form

• Fill in according to the template

9. Explanation letter for applying for a multiple-entry visa

• Submit the original

10. Two-sided Citizen ID card

• Submit a photocopy
• If the place of birth is not within the document submission area in Da Nang, an additional notarized photocopy is required

3) Conditions for multiple-entry visa application

A long-term / visiting family multiple-entry Japan visa may be applied for in the following cases:

A. Applicants who have previously visited Japan
Within the last 03 years, they must have had at least 01 short-term stay in Japan, with no violation of entry, residence, or legal regulations, and must also satisfy one of the following conditions:

• Have sufficient financial capacity to cover the full cost of the trip
• Within the last 03 years, have traveled multiple times to G7 countries (excluding Japan) for short-term stays

B. Applicants with strong financial capacity

• Can prove strong and stable financial ability

C. Spouse/children of applicants under category B

• May be considered when traveling with the financially sponsoring applicant
